TADPOG - Ep. 041 - The Lion King

HOPKINS COUNTY, KY (9/18/13) - Tyler (the one with the beard) and Dave (the one with the glasses) are two gamers from Paducah, Kentucky who host Tyler and Dave Play Old Games (TADPOG), a weekly audio podcast about old video games. The games discussed typically debuted on retro consoles like the Super Nintendo (SNES), Nintendo Entertainment System (NES), Sega Genesis and Game Boy. The latest episodes can be found on iTunes or on tadpog.com.

Strength: 2, Speed: 3, Stamina: 3, Durability: 2, Agility: 3, Intelligence: 4, Fighting Ability: 2, Mental Powers: 3, Energy Projection: 3

Dave is eerily comfortable talking about himself in the third person. He started gaming on a Tandy TRS-80. This was back when 5-1/4” floppy disks were costly, so the TRS-80 used cassette tapes. This thing looked like it belonged on the bridge of the original Death Star. Just like your typical five year old in the ‘80s, Dave was addicted to Frogger and Blackjack and his love of PC gaming continues to this day. His first gaming console was the NES, and he still has fond memories of playing marathon sessions of Super Mario Bros. 2, Spy Hunter, Ghosts ‘n Goblins and Paperboy. His favorite games usually incorporate bizarre themes, e.g., Earthworm Jim; or a compelling narrative, e.g., Chrono Trigger.

Strength: 3, Speed: 2, Stamina: 3, Durability: 3, Agility: 2, Intelligence: 3, Fighting Ability: 7 (Imaginary), Energy Projection: 0

Tyler started his gaming addiction back in 1990 when he was six, and started gaming on the original Nintendo Entertainment System. He played a little on his parent’s Atari 2600 but had no idea what he was actually doing. Tyler vaguely remembers pixels shaped like Superman that jumped from phone booth to phone booth. Tyler's golden age of memories stem from his Super Nintendo days. He has always found himself drawn to the classic RPGs of that era like Earthbound, Final Fantasy III (or VI, depending on your level of gaming-fu) and Super Mario RPG. Usually Tyler plays games for the story and the love of character development.
